Endangered architecture: The Riau Province is home to a significant portion of preserved Malay cultural history. The unique architecture of the vernacular Malay houses along the Rokan and Kuantan Rivers reflects the distinct characteristics of different tribes, yet they all belong to the same Malay cultural family, symbolizing the diversity of Malay culture. The traditional stilt houses of Riau Malay are not only adorned with distinctive Malay decorations but also carry memories and messages that previous generations wished to pass down to their descendants, with each component of the Malay house holding deep meaning.
